Trey Suggs

Trey Suggs
Chambers USA 2026 Trey Suggs Recognition

High‑stakes litigation requires clear strategy, disciplined judgment, and courtroom readiness.

Trey Suggs is a litigator with more than 20 years of experience defending healthcare professionals, corporations, and individuals in complex litigation. While an experienced trial lawyer, he approaches each matter with a focus on early case evaluation and cost‑benefit analysis, allowing clients to mitigate risk and manage litigation effectively.

Trey’s practice includes medical malpractice, professional liability, representation of professionals before licensing boards, and commercial litigation. He regularly appears in South Carolina circuit and Federal courts and has tried cases to verdict on behalf of both defendants and plaintiffs throughout the Upstate of South Carolina. He has also successfully argued matters before the South Carolina Court of Appeals and the South Carolina Supreme Court.

A native of Greenville, Trey graduated from the University of South Carolina School of Law in 2002. After beginning his practice with a large local firm, he joined Cassidy Coates Price in 2005 and became a partner in 2009. He currently serves as the firm’s Litigation Practice Leader.

Trey’s litigation work has been recognized by leading legal directories. He is ranked in Chambers USA for Commercial Litigation (South Carolina), is a member of the American Board of Trial Advocates, a Fellow with the International Association of Barristers, and has also been recognized by Benchmark Litigation and Legal 500 City Elite for his litigation practice.

Trey is active in the legal community. He is a past President of the South Carolina Defense Trial Attorneys Association and currently serves on its Board of Directors. He is also a former President of the South Carolina Bar Young Lawyers Division and a former member of the South Carolina Bar’s Board of Governors and House of Delegates.

Outside of his practice, Trey is committed to serving the Greenville community. He has been actively involved with United Ministries, where he served on the Board of Directors for seven years, and he has also served as a deacon at First Presbyterian Church in Greenville.

He enjoys spending time outdoors—at his farm or in the mountains—with his wife, Elizabeth, and their four children.
