Ross Plyler concentrates his practice in business and employment law, higher education law, and insurance coverage and litigation. Across these areas, he provides thoughtful, risk‑focused counsel to organizations navigating regulatory, employment, and litigation challenges.

In his employment practice, Ross represents employers in litigation and advises businesses on strategies to reduce legal risk. His work includes counseling on workplace policies, compliance matters, and dispute avoidance, as well as defending employers in high‑stakes employment matters.

Ross also represents private colleges and universities in a broad range of legal matters. His higher education practice includes advising institutions on employment issues, student discipline, contracts, and compliance with federal and state regulatory frameworks, including Title IX, FERPA, HIPAA, and the Clery Act. He assists institutions with policy development, risk management, and operational issues involving student health, disability and academic accommodations, and premises liability.

In addition, Ross maintains an active insurance coverage and litigation practice. He represents local, regional, and national insurers in matters involving coverage disputes, commercial liability, errors and omissions, and bad faith claims. His work spans pre‑litigation coverage analysis and complex insurance litigation in state and federal courts.

Following law school, Ross served as a law clerk to the Honorable Henry M. Herlong, Jr., United States District Court Judge for the District of South Carolina, an experience that continues to inform his practical and procedural approach to litigation.
