Attorneys Clark Price

Experienced trial advocacy and mediation require judgment developed through decades of practice.

Clark Price is a founding partner of Cassidy Coates Price, a seasoned trial attorney, and a South Carolina Supreme Court certified mediator with more than four decades of experience in litigation and dispute resolution. Since beginning his legal career in 1979, Clark has worked as a general practice attorney, a criminal prosecutor, and a civil litigator, developing broad and practical experience across multiple areas of law.

Clark represents hospitals and physicians in matters before the South Carolina Medical Board and in trial courts. He also handles cases involving real estate and business disputes and defends claims brought against governmental entities, including the City of Greenville. His appellate experience includes representing clients before the South Carolina Court of Appeals and the South Carolina Supreme Court in cases involving landlord tenant disputes, civil conspiracy claims, and personal injury actions.

In addition to his trial practice, Clark is a South Carolina Supreme Court certified mediator. Drawing on his extensive litigation experience, he assists parties throughout the state in resolving civil disputes, with an emphasis on practical resolution and informed negotiation.

A longtime leader in the legal community, Clark is a past president of the Greenville County Bar Association and has chaired its Client Relations Committee. He has been recognized in The Best Lawyers in America® every year since 2012 in Medical Malpractice Law – Defendants and was named Greenville’s Lawyer of the Year in that area in 2013 and 2016.

Clark is a Fellow of the American College of Trial Lawyers, one of the most selective organizations for trial lawyers in the United States and Canada, with fellowship limited to no more than one percent of attorneys in each state. He is also a member of the American Board of Trial Advocates. His legal ability and ethical standards have earned him an AV Preeminent® rating from Martindale Hubbell.

  • Represented a party in Riden v. KEMET Electronics (S.C. Ct. App. 1993), involving employment and tort claims. (Do we keep the case name?)
    Successfully represented an employer in a case where an independent contractor sued for injuries sustained in a workplace accident. The South Carolina Cour of Appeals ruled in favor of the employer.

  • Represented a party in Ambruoso v. Oconee Memorial Hospital (4th Cir. 1996), addressing medical malpractice issues on appeal.
    Successfully represented a hospital sued by a physician who alleged his privileges were improperly revoked. The lower court ruled in favor of the hospital. The decision was affirmed by the Fourth Circuit Court of Appeals.

  • Represented a municipality in wrongful death litigation involving alleged roadway defects. Obtained summary judgment based on lack of ownership and control. Successfully asserted governmental defenses.

  • Represented a municipality in a constitutional challenge to development conditions involving public access easements. Addressed nexus and proportionality requirements under exactions (takings) doctrine. Litigation Settled

  • Represented a municipality and officers in federal civil rights litigation arising from a barricaded suspect incident. Obtained summary judgment on qualified immunity and Monell claims. All claims were dismissed.

  • Represented a neurosurgeon in multiple malpractice actions involving surgical complications. Coordinated defense strategy and protected confidential records. Achieved favorable rulings and resolutions.

  • Representinig a major religious institution in disputes over congregational disaffiliation and property ownership. Litigation involves trust‑clause enforceability and governance issues, and institutional property rights across multiple courts.

  • Rrepresented a government entity in a wrongful death case before the South Carolina Supreme Court, which held that the entity was not liable

  • Represented a party in McMillan v. Oconee Memorial Hospital (S.C. 2006), involving complex healthcare litigation issues.
    Successfully represented a hospital sued by ta physician on the medical staff who sued the hospital for conspiring to deprive the physician of an exclusive contract to provide anestesiology services at thte hospital. The South Carolina Supreme Court held that a hospital cannot conspire with itself and reversed a multimillion dollar verdict against the hospital.
